About WAMES

Our aim

The Welsh Association of ME/CFS Support (WAMES) is a charity which gives a national voice to people with ME/CFS and PVFS in Wales, their carers and families, in order to improve services and access to services, to raise awareness and offer support.

Our Vision

Our Vision is for a Wales where adults and children with ME/CFS and PVFS and their carers, are taken seriously and treated with respect, where diagnosis, treatment and services are accessible without a battle.

Our activities

We speak out, seeking to influence the development of health, social care and education policy in Wales in the interests of all people with ME/CFS and their carers. We also campaign outside Wales on issues directly affecting Welsh residents.

We consult with people with ME/CFS and their carers to establish key concerns and determine priorities.

We respond to selected consultations which will have implications for people with ME/CFS and their carers both in Wales and further afield. We also take part in occasional surveys on issues relevant to the voluntary sector.

WAMES does not offer advice about specific issues but can give information about a wide range of topics of interest to people affected by ME/CFS. We can also signpost to other organisations who can offer information and/or advice.

WAMES looks for ways to raise awareness of ME/CFS and the work of WAMES through our website, posters & leaflets, directories, displays, e-news, talks, alliances, media involvement etc.
