What Causes ME/CFS?

The cause of ME/CFS is currently unknown. Research has been severely underfunded in comparison to other chronic illnesses and hindered by the existence of a wide range of definitions for the illness. In other words ME/CFS researchers don’t always study the same condition.

Studies have however discovered that many parts of the bodies of people with ME/CFS have been affected and syfunction have been found in:

Immune system
Central Nervous System
Autonomic system
Neuroendocrine system
Muscles & joints

Research is ongoing to understand more about the disease though it has become clear that a number of factors may be triggering it, including:

Bacterial and viral infections
vaccinations
toxins
stress
medications
